High-Performance Civil Engineering Materials Laboratory was built by Jiangsu Research Institute of Building Science Co..Ltd.It focuses on the key technical issues of urgency in the development of civil engineering materials industry,carrying out basic theory and applied research on civil engineering materials,such as high-performance,functionalization,long service life and energy-saving and pollution-reduction,etc.

With resarch housing covering and area of 18600m²,the laboratory has material preparation,characterization,performance test,envionment sumulation,and the instruments & devices and conditions of pilot test production. It has come into a scientific research team with complete professional structure,resonable personnel age composition and strong innovation ability,achieved research findings with important  effects and formed the features and advantages of its own.

The laboratory undertakes more than 60 scientific research tasks including the project 973 and the key projects of National Natural Sciences Fund.Three research findings have been awarded second prizes of national sicentific and technological progress and it has got twenty progress awards of provincial and ministerial-level science and technology.It has gained 17 national invention patents.its findings have been applied in water and hydropower,ports,municipal constructions,nuclear power,civil and industrial constructions,high speed railways,military engineering and civil engineering in other fields.It helped solve many technology difficult problems for the largest dam in the world-Three Gorges Project.the largest stayed bridge in the world-Sichuan Jinping hydropower station. and made important contributions to the development of national civil material industry and the construction of infrastructure.
